CEEG recently completed the shipment of a 220kV/13.8kV/60MVA power transformer custom-built for Spain's national grid. This transformer is designed specifically to drive a large synchronous condenser system, tackling extreme operating conditions such as the high short-circuit currents caused by an exceptionally low impedance of just 5%. With its superior short-circuit withstand capability, it represents a new generation of efficient and reliable green energy equipment.
Key technical highlights include:
1. Energy Efficiency: Ultra-low impedance of 5%, significantly reducing both reactive and active power losses, enhancing the overall efficiency of the condenser unit, and meeting the EU grid's strict standards for energy efficiency.
2. Strong Short-Circuit Resistance: High-strength transposed conductors and optimized winding structure provide robust mechanical support and clamping strength, ensuring structural stability and safe operation even under short-circuit currents up to 20 times the rated value.
3. Precise Design: Comprehensive finite element analysis (FEA) was applied to simulate electromagnetic, thermal, and short-circuit performance, ensuring reliability under extreme conditions from the design stage.
4. Adaptability to Complex Working Conditions: For the long-term overvoltage characteristics of synchronous condensers, the magnetic circuit design and silicon steel selection were optimized to enhance overexcitation withstand capability, maintaining stable performance even during system voltage fluctuations.
