CEEG has maintained a cooperative relationship with Rio Tinto, one of the world’s leading iron ore producers, since June 2012, when we delivered 52 sets of CSA-certified C-class insulated VPI dry-type transformers. This milestone led to our recognition as a Rio Tinto Certified Supplier.
These transformers were the first C-class insulation ventilated dry-type transformers in China to pass CSA certification, earning us the "Most Innovative 2012 Award" in Rio Tinto’s procurement for emerging markets.
In 2018, Rio Tinto sent a global procurement team of 10 members to visit CEEG. The team expressed high regard for the C-class insulation and the exceptional stability of our products. During their factory inspection, Rio Tinto’s experts were impressed with our manufacturing processes, quality control, and technical expertise. We also discussed potential future cooperation projects in South Africa, Australia, and North America.
In March 2024, Rio Tinto's KITIMAT electrolytic aluminum plant in Canada purchased 1,000 sets SG series VPI transformers, totaling $112,280.12, from us, marking a 12-year-long cooperation relationship with CEEG.
What makes our VPI transformers favored by major companies? CEEG’s 25-year strategic partnership with DuPont in utilizing Nomex insulation technology in VPI transformer manufacturing is key. Beyond the inherent benefits of Nomex—such as withstanding temperatures up to 220°C, being inherently flame-resistant in high-risk environments, enhancing efficiency, extending service life, reducing maintenance costs, and offering environmental advantages—our production process also reduces no-load loss by 60% and keeps partial discharge below 5 pC.
